biography:
jenna d. maclellan has led a nomadic lifestyle that has directed her artistic process to create a diverse sense of community. After studying in France, jenna attended OCAD University and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. jenna has actively worked as a community-oriented artist over the past few years. Since 2006, she co-founded the collaborative arts organization (faut art). Since 2006, she has worked with ATSA to create interventions at État d'Urgence. jenna then co-directed The Recycling Intervention Committee creating a collaborative sculpture for Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Chicago (2007). In addition she has led Mural Movement projects with children in Haiti, Morocco and Niger. Recently jenna co-directed a documentary film in Niger called Fati's Struggle (2008) about the life of a courageous young handicapped woman. jenna's work has been exhibited in galleries and public spaces in North America, France and West Africa. From all her travels, jenna always returns to Montréal, a city she adores. Recently, through a grant by the Canada Council for the Arts, she completed a project promoting peace, petits mains pour la paix, with Canadian military personnel and a group of immigrant women at Petites-Mains. She will be presenting an exposition at Le Musée des maîtres et artisans du Québec this winter (2010). |
